How are things going back there? This week has actually been pretty awesome. After a somewhat disheartening week last week, this week was really nice. One pretty neat thing that I found out just a little bit ago... I'm going to be training next change! I cannot wait to be able to work with a new missionary and be able to help him learn and grow. It will really be an awesome opportunity to be able to grow myself and be able to help another missionary to learn and develop habits that will help him become a great missionary. I will find out if I am going to stay here in the same barrio or move somewhere else later this week.
Otherwise, the other exciting news is pretty awesome... We had a baptism this past week! It was really great, and he is going to be a really strong member. He could actually be an integral part of the baptisms of his mom, sister, and a friend in the future.
Things have been pretty good. We actually had an abnormally good day on Saturday. Unfortunately, almost everything that we had planned to do fell through. People weren't there for their appointments which really isn't that weird. So we really ended up going and doing a lot of contacts... which means a lot of "alo's" at fences. However, it was a really awesome day as far as weather was. Like it was probable under 80 degrees at 5 in the afternoon, which is really abnormal. But somehow we must have gotten really lucky. Because we probably contacted only about 15 houses where people answered and of those 15 houses we were able to teach 5 lessons and find 6 new investigators.... which is a really abnormal thing. Like in an area equivalent of Meadowlark Lane, if it was condensed so that the houses were practically touching, we found 6 new people who we were able to teach and gave us a time when we could come back again. That's pretty sweet. Then we went to a house of an inactive member who we found on a list of members in the ward. We had set a time to meet with them but we weren't sure if they would be there. Then somehow we alo'ed their door and they invited us in to eat "once" which is a small meal of freshly baked bread with different things to eat it with. It was pretty great, because in addition to being able to eat (at about 9) after not eating since like 2 (that's just how things work here), we were able to talk to a lot of family members who are not members and be able to help them out with some problems that they had been struggling with. That is the thing I like best about the mission. Being able to really help people with the things that they are struggling with in their lives. When they just say thank you for being able to help in some way, it makes it all worth it.
And the final set of exciting news.... IT RAINED!!! Granted it wasn't very much, but at least it was something. So now I can say that I have officially seen rain in Chile.
And my favorite part of Chile for the week: freshly baked bread. You can buy fresh bread just about anywhere here. It is super cheap and super amazing. I don't think it's very healthy to eat a lot of, but it's really good! Like really, really good. Which is why I think there are overweight people here in Chile. I blame it on the fresh bread at every meal. (That happens to cost like $0.70/lb)
Well, I hope that things are great back home. And I will talk to you later!!
