Week 2 November 24, 2011

Happy Thanksgiving!!!
And Happy Birthday tomorrow mom!!!!!!!!!!

Things here are going great. I don't have that much time on these computers so I may not be able to write as long of a letter as I would've liked but I'll do my best.  Once I leave for Chile I will be going directly into the field so you can just start sending stuff to the mission home.  Also, it is probably best to send any letters to Dearelder.com.  That way I get it printed out like the next day.   Any email I can only read the week after when I get to write home.  I

It's also really sad to hear about Br. Sperle, but that story about bringing the sacrament to him is really awesome.  I know that there is a ton of power in renewing our covenants as we partake of the sacrament, so it's really great that the priests were able to be able to go and do that.  I also did know that Elder Gordon sang, but I didn't really know how well.

Here things are going great.  It's been great getting to know my new companion.  He's definitely very different, but that's not a bad thing.  He's in the military so that has definitely had a big impact on who he is and how he acts. I really like everyone in my district (the class of 5 companionships).  They are kind of a crazy group of hispanics, but they are awesome.  I know that I'm really going to love the culture.

One thing that was awesome was on Tuesday, Elder D. Todd Christofferson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles came and spoke to us.  The meeting was really spiritual and motivating.  However, maybe more than anything else, when we met together as a district to discuss the devotional yesterday, the Spirit was sooo strong.  As each person bore their testimony of the Gospel and their reasons for being out in the field, it was so easy to just feel completely unified and desirous to help each other and love each other completely.

Another thing that has been amazing has been teaching investigators here.  I'm not sure if the people we teach are all actors; I feel like they would all have to be, but as I talk to them and teach them the things that are so important for me, I feel such an enormous love for each of them and really want them to be happy. I really can't wait to be able to go and teach.  It will be such an amazing opportunity.  But this really is an amazing place.  It is inspired and inspiring.

I hope that all is great back there and that everything goes well.  Keep me updated on how all the Thanksgiving and birthday festivities go.

With love,
Elder Stollenwerk
