How's it going? Things are going great
here. I am still getting used to my new sector here. The weather has
been pretty crazy this past week. It was the first time that it really
rained more than just a drizzle here or there. It ended up being pretty
cold that day. I realized to trying to talk to people in the rain is
(not) very fun. Like going from house to house trying to find people
that are willing to talk to you is just a bit less entertaining when it
is pouring rain. And cold. It was cool that there was a thunderstorm
here. Everyone asked if I woke up in the middle of the night to all of
the thunder, but I realized that I'm just so used to the thunderstorms
back home that I don't even wake up to them.
Another thing that is crazy is that I am
already almost at 6 months in my mission. I will be on May 12th, which
just so happens to be the day before I get to call home for MOTHER'S
DAY!!!! I am way excited to be able to call home. I can't believe that
it is already pretty much May. I really just feel like I barely got
here just a few weeks ago, not that I am almost a quarter of the way
through my mission. Time just goes by way too fast, and there is just
not time to be able to help everyone the way that you would want.
That is something that is really interesting to
think about. Because here, there is sooo much to do that will benefit
the people here. You can find ways to try to help people almost
constantly, but it really takes a lot of effort to be able to do that.
Helping people really does take a lot of energy, and it can wear you
down. However, you just need to work as hard as you can and it really
pays off. For example, there are a lot of inactive members of the
church who have not gone in a long time. We spend time trying to find
those people and help them to get back to church. We also spend a lot
of time trying to find people, usually by going from house to house,
talking to people in the street, or finding family members of inactive
members. Obviously the best time is when we are able to go visit our
investigators who are really progressing and learning a lot, especially
those who are preparing to be baptized. It is great to see the growth
and the changes in their lives. The recurring theme is always how much
they have seen their lives change as they have sought to get closer to
Christ through the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ on the earth. It is
powerful to feel the Holy Ghost in lessons bearing truth to us and to
our investigators as well. That is really what makes this all worth it.
Anyway, as far as Mother's Day goes, I think that we
should be able to talk using Skype again. We will have to see how things go, but we may
actually have a baptism that day, which would be really neat. I will
keep you updated with how everything is going with that.
It is great to hear that all is going well at home.
I hope that everything goes well for the girls as they get close to
finishing up their school years. That is really crazy that we are
already at that time of the year. Keep going strong. Say hi to everyone back home for me. Tell
Bishop that it'd be great to hear from him. I'd really like to hear how
things are going back there, including in the ward. For some reason
things like that are on my mind more these days. Good luck and I'll
talk to you later.
