How is everything going back home? Things
have been pretty good here. It is so weird that I will not be here all
that much longer. To be completely honest, I don't feel like it is
already almost time when I will be back home. It just doesn't feel
real. And it probably won't for a while. The truth is, looking back at
the changes in my life, things have generally been that way. All of a
sudden I move and then I just get used to the change. It happened when I
came, and I have a feeling that it will happen when I leave. Just all
of a sudden I will be back in a different country, speaking a different
language, and being with different people.
Yesterday I gave my last talk in Chile. I spoke
about why we at times need to pass through difficulties in this life.
It is something that I have definitely learned during my time here in
Chile. Sometimes we will have to experience difficult things, but those
experiences will always help us progress, if we let them.
Tomorrow I will be going to the temple for the first
and last time here in Chile. It will be interesting going through the
temple in Spanish for the first time. I know that it will be a very
uplifting experience that I have not been able to have for the last 2
years. I will be able to go with several of the missionaries that I
have been with a lot here in the mission, and with whom I have shared
many great experiences.
The people that we are teaching are advancing well.
Hopefully in the coming week we will be able to help them a lot to
continue progressing. Although they won't be able to be baptized while I
am here, I know that several of them will be able to make that step in
the coming weeks.
Well there is really not all that much besides that.
I guess I will just have to figure out the whole packing thing and
getting everything that I need into a couple of suitcases to bring in a
plane across the world.
Well we will see each other very soon.
Until then,
Elder Stollenwerk
