Hello everyone!
Things are going great here inChile . It is getting really hot here and pretty uncomfortable to be walking around all day in a shirt and tie, but other than that, I don't really have much to complain about. The work here is going great. We are now in charge of teaching the investigators in the neighboring ward for a few weeks while there are no missionaries in the sector. Things there are going really well because the ward mission leader is doing an awesome job. One thing that is crazy for me is how young all the leaders are here. For example, both the ward mission leaders in my ward and the other ward we are over now are either 18 or 19 years old and preparing to go on missions themselves.
Christmas was neat because we got to have dinner on Christmas Eve, and lunch and dinner on Christmas with members. It was really nice because the members are great. Also, we got to meet up with all of the missionaries in the mission on the 23rd which was neat. Overall, the Christmas holiday was great, even if we were not able to do a ton of work because of it.
New Years here is pretty cool. We had to go home super early because it was dangerous for us to be out too long. We were able to stay up until Midnight to celebrate the New Year and then go to sleep not too long afterward. We just celebrated with a "Happy New Year" and a glass of soda. The only main difference here is that because it is so hot, there are just a bunch of fireworks everywhere, which makes it seem a little more like the 4th of July than New Years.
Oh that reminds me of something else. People here drink sooooo much soda! Soda is pretty cheap because you just bring your used bottles and therefore you pretty much only pay for the price of the soda and not the packaging. Because of that, I drink a lot of soda now, which I'm not sure I necessarily like, but it's what everyone gives you.
We are still working really hard here. It's been a bit hard because of the holidays and people leaving. There are some awesome investigators who may leave for up to 3 weeks for vacation, which is really sad, because I know how much they could progress if they are just around to be able to learn.
I will send more pictures of my apartment and some of the houses around here sometime in the near future. The building by the church is an all-boys school I believe, but I'm not really sure.
Otherwise things here are still going well. I get along really well with my companion. It is definitely a bit different having a whole apartment to ourselves, but I enjoy it.
