How are things going back home? Things
have been pretty good here. At times it is a bit difficult, but in
general it has been a really good week. Probably the best thing of all,
this following week we should have three baptisms. That will be really
exciting. I don't know how much you remember about any of them but
they are Josselyn who will be baptized by her husband; Andrea, a great
lady who is struggling with cancer; and Javiera, a 10-year-old girl in a
family that is returning to activity in the church. It should be a
really great experience, but it is also a bit difficult to get
everything planned when you need to work with three families to get
everything ready. But I'm sure that it will be a great experience. It
should be especially good for my companion as well because it should help to
get him motivated to have a lot of success in his mission. I'm just
really looking forward to a lot of people in white clothes this coming
Sunday. :) Perhaps the person that I am most amazed by is Andrea
because she has a really strong dedication to follow Christ regardless
of any type of opposition that may come. And so that firm dedication to
do all that she can to follow Christ really has helped to inspire me.
In addition to all of that, we have been able to find some really great
people in the past week or two, so we will hopefully be able to keep
working with them to help them progress.
But it seems like there may be some changes coming
for me in this next week according to my trainer who is currently the
Secretary in the Mission Office. I am not quite sure yet where I will
be going, but it seems like it is pretty certain that I am leaving the
sector that I am in on Monday. I will find out all of the details on
Thursday. As a result, it means I will have 6 "changes" (periods of 6
weeks) here in Chile and will have my 6th companion. It seems like I
just won't be staying with anyone for very long, at least for now.
As far a the package goes, I have not received
anything yet, but depending on where I end up, I will probably get it
either next week or the following week. We just haven't gotten any mail
recently, so there haven't really been any opportunities to get it.
I will also be doing some type of mini concert
here on Saturday for a ward activity. It should be pretty fun and a
good opportunity to say goodbye to a lot of the people here in the ward.
That is honestly one of the hardest things about being a missionary:
having to leave and say goodbye to all of the members and the people
that you have taught, knowing that frequently you may never see them
again. The other hard thing is when people choose not to follow what
they know is right and what they know they should do.
Well I hope all is going well for you all. You can take some of our rain if you want. I wouldn't miss it.
Good luck with everything. Chao.
