Hello,

Things are going well out here in Chile.  This week has been really good.  We have been able to find some new, really great people that we are starting to work with.  It will be good to try to help them progress and start to feel the blessings of the Gospel in their lives.

Things have actually been pretty quiet this week.  Not all that much super exciting or different has happened.  Mostly, I am just working really hard here with my companion, trying to teach and help as many people as possible.  One thing that has been a really great blessing for us is where we live.  We live in one of two giant towers.  There are 18 floors with 12 apartments on each floor.  Pretty much that makes for a lot of people who all live really close to each other.  The best part of it all is that the people in those buildings are generally very nice and often willing to listen.

One of the investigators that we are working with is named Javiera.  She is the daughter in a family of less-active members who were baptized between 3-5 years ago.  It is really great to be able to teach her because as we teach, you can see the desire of the father to have his family become strong again in the church with the goal of being sealed one day in the temple.  I have come to realize over the past few months how truly important that is.  What we do as missionaries only has a very limited meaning until it leads families to the temple.  There, families can receive all of the blessings that the Gospel is able to bring into the lives of each of us.  It has really helped me to realize the eternal nature of what we try to do every day- that families really can be together forever, not only until the end of this life but really into the eternities.  Seeing those blessings in the lives of people here is what really makes it all worth it.  Even though there are tough days from time to time, there are real blessings that are promised to us as we strive our best to follow Christ.

Well good luck with everything back home.  I hope that all goes well.  And if you don't mind, a little bit of heat could be nice as well.

With lots of love,
Elder Stollenwerk
