September 24, 2012

Hello everyone,

How are things going back home?  I hope that everything is good there.  I am doing well here in Chile.  I received some news this past week that I will be changing the sector that I am working in next Monday, the 1st of October.  I will be going to the ward Las Acacias.  It is actually a really weird change because the missionaries there are going to switch with us.  They will be coming to our sector and we will go to theirs.  Therefore, I will say goodbye to the members and the people that I am teaching here as I get ready to move to a new ward, even though it is next door to my current sector.

My birthday here was actually really good.  In the morning, I opened my package from home, which was really great.  For lunch we ate a great barbeque.  It was really delicious.  That's just what happens when you go to eat with members who are celebrating a national holiday.  Then later in the evening, we went by the house of a family that we have been teaching where two of the daughters were baptized relatively recently.  The awesome thing was that they bought me a cake and they sang Happy Birthday to me.  It was a really great end to the day, followed by a great lesson with a new family that we recently found.  In the end, I was really happy with everything.

There is really not all that much that is new here.  It is starting to get a lot warmer now.  Sometimes it is even uncomfortably hot.  I can't believe that it is already almost October, which means that General Conference is coming up soon, followed by the visit from Elder Bednar to our mission.  It should be really great.  Another thing that was good this past week was that Elder Zeballos of the First Quorum of Seventy came to talk to us this past week.  It was really great to be able to learn from him.  He was really inspiring in everything that he shared with us, which really made me feel very dedicated to work hard.  It is interesting that he is the first Chilean to be called to the First Quorum of Seventy, and like most members here, he was a convert to the church who met the missionaries in his youth.  I really enjoyed the opportunity to listen to him and his wife during the conference that we had with him (you can see pictures on the mission website if you'd like).

Well I think that is all I have time for today.  I am running a bit behind with everything, but I hope all is well with you all.  Have a great week, and I will talk to you later!!

Chao,
Elder Stollenwerk
