Things are going great here in
CHILE! Yeah things are pretty awesome here. The weather is finally
starting to cool down a bit, but I really enjoy it. I much prefer the
cold so far compared with the heat from before. So even though the
nights now get pretty cold, it's pretty comfortable as far as working
goes. The other day, there was a pretty awesome sunrise around the time
that we got up, so I took some pictures and sent them home. There is a
sunrise over the Andes for you!
Easter here was fairly uneventful. The only real
different thing that we did was today, we went to a city called Linderos
to have an Easter egg hunt. It was pretty fun. Probably over half of
the mission was there along with hundreds of eggs hidden across an
entire city. Granted it was a pretty small village, but it was really
neat to be able to go and try to find Easter eggs out here. It made it
feel slightly more like home, even though it was pretty different. The
cool part was being able to see a lot of missionaries and be able to get
back in touch with people that I haven't seen in a while. I got a
picture with my "family" or all of the missionaries with their
respective people that they trained. The missionaries in the picture
are Elders Rodriguez, Martinez, Stapley, Shepherd, ??, Hansen, Cooper,
Stollenwerk (me!), and Christensen.
As far as Easter traditions go here, I'm pretty sure
that people generally just go to look for chocolate eggs. It doesn't
seem like people color actual eggs normally. Other than that, it isn't a
really huge holiday here as far as I can tell.
So the awesome thing is... we are going to have a
baptism this coming week!!! She is really awesome. Her name is Roxana
and is part of a family in which most people were baptized a long time
ago. She understands everything really well and is really excited to be
able to follow Christ more fully in her life. It is exciting to be
able to see her be a great example to her family and friends. Even
before being baptized, she has already brought 3 friends with her to
church. She is definitely going to be a strong member in the church who
will be able to help bless the lives of many people.
I am excited to see what I will end up doing soon.
There will be changes next Monday, so I will either be moving to
somewhere else or staying another six weeks here with Elder Christensen.
I would be really happy with either way, but I am excited to know what
will happen.
I hope that all is going well back there at home, and I will talk to you all a bit later!!
Elder Stollenwerk
